HUBER+SUHNER - Proactive PR – Content that counts


The Challenge

HUBER+SUHNER is a global Swiss company which develops and manufactures components and system solutions for electrical and optical transportation of data and energy.

The company serves customers in the Communication, Transportation and Industrial markets with cables, connectors, cable systems, antennas and other passive components, leveraging its expertise in radio frequency, fibre optics and low frequency technologies. The products stand out due to their exceptional quality, reliability and durability – even under harsh environmental conditions.

HUBER+SUHNER first started working with Proactive PR five years ago when the company was looking to raise its profile at a series of key events, as well as position itself as a thought leader and an expert in technology and infrastructure for its key markets.

Our Approach

Proactive PR was first brought in by HUBER+SUHNER in 2013 to help support the following objectives:

  • Expand the scope of target media to include top tier publications in vertical sectors.
  • Focus on creating original content – for example, thought leadership articles targeting the vertical sectors.
  • Place HUBER+SUHNER at the forefront of its customers’ minds.

Actions Taken

In 2013 and 2014, HUBER+SUHNER and Proactive International PR collaborated on various projects before agreeing to work together on a permanent, ongoing basis.

To keep HUBER+SUHNER’s profile up, Proactive PR developed a PR strategy and year round campaign, which included: writing and issuing news releases to announce company news, product launches and the company’s presence at trade shows; creating a forward features programme and securing byline placements in a variety of industry publications; arranging media briefings on-site at events where HUBER+SUHNER was in attendance; and constantly updating and monitoring targeted media lists.

Proactive PR has now been supporting HUBER+SUHNER’s Marketing team for more than five years.


In total, 1375 pieces of coverage were generated in 2016 for HUBER+SUHNER, while 791 pieces of coverage were generated between January and August of 2017.

The Advertising Value Equivalent (AVE) over the past twelve months is approximately £10,800,000, meaning that Proactive PR was able to get HUBER+SUHNER more than £10 million worth of advertising space… for free!

Key achievements during the period included:

  • Writing and distributing around 40 news releases in 2016 and 2017 between January and August, some of which were distributed in multiple languages.
  • Providing support for an average of three events/month, located all over the world.
  • In 2016, Proactive PR secured 31 briefings with top tier media at events including Data Centre World London, DesignCon, InnoTrans, Electronica, Eurosatory, FTTH Council, IMS, and Satellite 2016. By the end of August 2017, Proactive PR had already scheduled 30 briefings.
  • Providing on-site support at InnoTrans 2016 and generating approximately 200 pieces of coverage pre- and post-show.
  • Providing video support at Formula Student 2016 at Silverstone, as well as on-site support at Data Centre World London 2016 and 2017
  • Building excellent relationships with key media
  • Ongoing increase of coverage across the year due to increased brand awareness.
  • Coverage spread across the globe, with HUBER+SUHNER being included in publications in Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.

HUBER+SUHNER is now seen as a leader in its target markets and regions as a result of the increased brand awareness generated by Proactive PR. The company is now seeking to further increase its penetration of vertical sectors and secure its position as a leading technology infrastructure partner for global businesses.
